the blue angels are back in town and i am BUMMED. i got my first taste of these assholes about 8 years ago, my first year living out of hawaii, september 11th still fresh on everyones minds. at about 9am im jarred out of a dead sleep by a deafening roar and my apartment shaking. i immediately think "holy shit its happening here" i was seriously expecting to look out my window and see the space needle in flames, turns out its just fucking NASCAR of the sky the blue angels flying about 100 feet above my apartment building. as a rule if i can see the pilots face theyre flying TOO FUCKING LOW. also is it just me or does the fact that these guys are flying directly over the most densely populated neighborhood in all of seattle seem like a poor choice?seriously who is this even for? no one in the city gives a shit, take it about 100 miles east and get some farmers pumped and please please stop scaring the shit out of me.

back in its original black gel/neon green color up as well as the spring classic teal to pink gradient fade.

once in a while you come up with a concept so perfect and a vision so clear its sort of scary trying to bring it to life. there are so many ways to screw up a design. luckily i can say with 100% certainty that this colab piece we did with bittersweet a few years back is the perfect realization of what we sought out to create. judging by how quickly it sold out the last time i think you guys agree.

we cant keep doing this to ourselves. all these amazing shows (arrested development, party down) keep getting canceled and everyone whines about it but guess what, if you watched them when they were on this wouldnt be happening. louis ck's hilarious show on FX is too good to fall victim to this, WATCH THIS SHOW!

Its not easy for me to give up control of anything with flying coffin. It could definitely be argued that operating this way has been to my detriment. Its been tough but ive learned that once in a while having a outside vision breathes fresh air into the brand, that�s why for the past few seasons ive let jay clark and jordan nicholson run my lookbooks. This season I thought it would be nice to get away from the northwest feel that we had established in previous seasons and show some of my hawaii roots. While on a trip back home a month ago I met john hook while he was hanging his show at the manifest. I instantly knew I wanted him to shoot this seasons lookbook. You can see more of johns excellent work at his often updated and very entertaining blog. Thanks to all who participated in the shoot, lucky olelo, ryan from aloha fixed, mahina, vince and especially john for shooting it on such short notice and for doing such a great job. On to what youre all really here for, the FC summer collection.... (which is now available at FC dealers worldwide and in the store section!)

just got home from a crazy night at the muckleshoot indian reservation fireworks market. is it just me or does this look eerily similar to the future war scenes from the terminator movies. its like the end of the world up there, piles of burning trash everywhere, explosions, rockets passing inches above your head, quarter sticks of dynamite getting tossed around, basically no rules. i cant believe i havent been doing this every year that ive lived here.

just got home from the opening of jays show at pun(c)tuation gallery. if youre anywhere near the seattle area i highly recommend stopping by and checking it out.

i forgot to mention in my previous post that he hand made each and every one of these frames, very impressive to say the least.

and because im no good at explaining art heres the official press release for the show:

"Clark believes in the "silent violence of collage," and this exhibit will showcase his talent in a variety of mediums, including mixed media collage, sculpture-esque pieces, zines, t-shirts, and a self-published book. His work deconstructs darker imagery � things people don't necessarily want to see, whether political, sexual, societal, or racial in nature � then pieces them together in a way that changes and questions the original intent of the image. An artist who isn't afraid to push buttons, he deals in the realm of the funny yet offensive, taking a tongue-in-cheek look at modern culture. His pseudonym, FaNKULT, stands for �fanatical culture� and reflects his interest in society�s obsessions."

the new bastard noise lp, a culture of monsters is out now and holy shit do you need it. eric wood taking bastard noise back to its roots is seriously the best thing to happen in music in a long fucking time. how a man this good at bass ever put it down is a mystery to me.
